Bee smokers and asbestos

Battery-operated bee smokers may contain asbestos in the insulating board between the battery compartment in the handle of the device and the metal smoker.

Bee smokers containing asbestos have been imported into Queensland from China in 2019/20. Contact SafeWork NSW on 1800 ASBESTOS (1800 272 378).

The battery-operated bee smokers release smoke for beekeeping (apiculture).

Characteristics
