Asbestos millboard was mostly used for insulation and fire protection, and around heating elements in air conditioning ducts. 

Paints containing asbestos look the same as paints without asbestos and can be friable. Be asbestos aware. Find out where they were used.

Thermal and acoustic spray insulation contained asbestos for heat protection and noise suppression. Over 3000 products contained asbestos.

Vermiculite is a silver-gold to grey-brown mineral. It was heat-treated to create fire-resistant ceiling and insulation panels. These panels contain ‘puffed’ pockets of air that give them a textured look known as ‘popcorn ceilings’. 

Asbestos-containing materials can be found in wall and ceiling vents used for ventilation in homes and buildings built before 1990. Be asbestos aware.
